Vocal Cord Paralysis
- Types: Unilateral or bilateral, congenital or acquired
- Associated Conditions: Central nervous system abnormalities (Arnold Chiari syndrome) or cardiovascular anomalies
Symptoms
- High-pitch inspiratory stridor
Treatment
- Tracheostomy in severe cases
- Spontaneous recovery in half of the patients within a year
- Surgical intervention after one year:
- Vocal cord lateralization,
- arytenoidectomy,
- laser cordotomy
