Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis
Overview
Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis is a condition that primarily affects individuals before the age of 15, with 2/3 of cases occurring in this age group. It rarely undergoes malignant change.
Causes
- HPV Types:
- HPV 6-11 are the most common strains associated with this condition.
- HPV 16-18 are linked to malignancy.
Risks
- Younger first-time mother: There is an increased risk if the mother has condyloma acuminata.
Lesions
- The lesions are wart-like and resemble a cluster of grapes.

Treatment
- Primary Treatment:
- Laser excision
- Microdebrider
- Adjunctive Therapy:
- Cidofovir
- Acyclovir
- Interferon
