Patient Presentation: You have a sore throat since 3 days; this is associated with mild fever, dry cough, headache, and generalized body aches.

Opening Scenario: Doctor, I have a painful throat (You will admit only this).

    • Since three days, you have a sore throat, fever, cough, headache, and generalized body ache.
    • This is the 3rd episode during this year.
    • You also have sneezing and a running nose.
    • You tried Panadol tablets, taking 2 tablets every 12 hours with mild benefits.
  • Ideas, Concerns, and Expectations:

    • Ideas: It is an infectious disease which should be treated with a strong antibiotic.
    • Concerns: That it will spread this problem to all your family members.
    • Expectations:
      • That your doctor will give you an antibiotic and more potent painkillers.
      • You want sick leave to get rest for 2-3 days.
