- Decibels (dB): Unit of measurement of sound intensity.
- Vibration: To-and-fro motion of an object (e.g., vocal folds, diaphragm on an earphone or loudspeaker, tuning fork).
Frequency
- Number of cycles per second.
- Humans hear from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
- Below 20 Hz, vibrations are felt rather than heard.
- Hertz (Hz): Unit of measurement of frequency.
Units of measurements
- Frequency: Measured in Hertz (Hz).
- Intensity: Measured in Decibels (dB).
