Stridor

  • Stridor: A high-pitched wheezing sound resulting from turbulent airflow in the upper airway.
  • Snoring: A low-pitch sound caused by tissue vibration of the nasopharynx, pharynx, and soft palate due to obstruction above the larynx.

Types of Stridor

  • Inspiratory Stridor: Supraglottic, glottic obstruction
  • Expiratory Stridor: Trachea (lower)
  • Biphasic Stridor: Subglottic obstruction
