Congenital Subglottic Stenosis
- Definition: Subglottic area is the narrowest area in the airway; stenosis if the diameter is less than 4 mm in term infants.
Symptoms
- Biphasic stridor
- Recurrent croup
Diagnosis
- Bronchoscopy,
- plain X-ray,
- HKV X-ray

Airway Obstruction Grading
- Grade I: <50% obstruction
- Grade II: 51-70% obstruction
- Grade III: 71-99% obstruction
- Grade IV: No detectable lumen
Treatment
- Grade I & II: Observation, balloon dilation, laser excision
- Grade III & IV: Tracheostomy, laryngotracheal reconstruction, cricotracheal resection
