IM/Thera
- Contraction power is OK but relaxation (diastole) is reduced ⇒
- ventricular cavity gets smaller ⇒
- less blood at the end of diastole, so SV reduced, CO also reduced.( vent. is small & stiff)
Ejection fraction normal
- Low SV (stroke volume)
- Low CO
- Normal or preserved EF
Diastolic failure is also called heart failure with preserved EF (HFpEF)
| Feature | Systolic Heart Failure | Diastolic Heart Failure |
|---|---|---|
| Stroke Volume | Low | Low |
| Cardiac Output | Low | Low |
