The goals of treatment of stable angina involve: Therapies to prevent/minimize ischemia and to improve survival.
goals achieved with variety of modalities including:
- Medical therapy, non-pharmacologic and lifestyle measures
- And revascularization with either percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG).
Control of risk factors and associated disorders: Stop smoking. Treatment of hypertension, diabetes, anemia, disease. Lowering LDL cholesterol < I 00 mg%. Weight reduction.
- Gradual institution of a regular aerobic exercise program is beneficial in the management of risk factors such as lipids, blood pressure, obesity, and diabetes mellitus.
Drug therapy (antianginal drugs):

During the acute attack:
- Short-acting nitrates & nitrites.
- Sedatives and tranquilizers to calm the patient.

In-between the attacks (prophylaxis):
- Long-acting nitrates.
- Beta-blockers
- CCBs.
- Cytoprotective drugs: trimetazidine
- Antiplatelets drugs: aspirin, dipyridamol, etc.
- Statin

Surgical treatment of IHD (myocardial revascularization).
Management of angina with other concomitant diseases:
Hypertension and angina:
- Control of blood pressure by using medication useful for angina e.g. Beta-blockers or CCBs .
- Low sodium and low fat diet.
- Mild exercise
- Avoid stress.
- Control of hyperlipidemia.
