Hydradenitis suppurativa

Infection of “apocrine sweat glands” of axilla, groin, perineum or any skin fold.

Precipitating factors: Irritations by deodorants and excessive sweating

Presentation: multiple tender swellings under the arm or in the groin, these enlarge and discharge pus.

Treatment :

  • maintain good hygiene
  • Initial warm compresses and antibiotics as Doxycycline 100mg BID
  • If fails, then complete excision of the infected tissue down to deep fascia with subsequent grafting or delayed closure.
