Evaluation of the Dysphonic Patient
History
- Dysphonia (hoarseness)
- Onset, duration, severity, URTI, fever, cough, (voice abuse (job), tobacco or alcohol), dysphagia, aspiration, breathing difficulty, weight loss, GERD, trauma, previous surgery, neck mass.
Examination
- Complete ENT examination
- Laryngeal examination and voice assessments:
- Indirect laryngoscope (mirror)
- Direct laryngoscope
- Fibreoptic flexible scope
- Stroboscopy
- Acoustic analysis
- Cranial nerve examination
- Neck examination
