Assignment Required from Students

The (Simulated Patient (S.Pt) Student assignment task is:

  1. Prepare 3 case- scenario scripts from tasks & prepare to roleplay one.
  2. The 3 case- scenario scripts should be brought & handed to the teacher strictly in the student allocated roleplay day.
  3. Play only one case (chosen by the teacher & will be scored by him)
  4. St.pt. Student should submit the 3 cases to the Moodle & will be marked

The (Simulated Doctor (S. Dr.), assignment job is:

  1. Interview the Simulated-Pt. student
  2. Make a verbal formulation presentation at the end of interview
  3. Write a report about the case including, history, DDx, investigation & management.
  4. St. Dr. Student should submit only the case he interviewed to the Moodle & will be marked
  • Tutor will rate the students and that will be part of their continuous assessment

Knowledge

Phenomenological psychopathology

(signs and symptoms) of psychiatric disorders.

Classification and etiology in clinical psychiatry

(Bio-psycho-social-spiritual).

Common psychiatric disorders:

  1. Clinical features and course.
  2. Epidemiology and etiology.
  3. Differential diagnosis.
  4. Treatment (bio-psycho-social) and prognosis.

Treatment modalities in psychiatry:

  1. Physical: pharmacotherapy, electroconvulsive therapy
  2. Psychological: behavioral, cognitive, supportive psychotherapy and others.

Skills

To conduct a full psychiatric interview with:

  1. Proper interview techniques and skills.
  2. Sufficient psychiatric history.
  3. Standard “mental state examination”.
  • To present a diagnostic formulation for common psychiatric disorders.

  • To set an outline of a management plan for common psychiatric disorders following the bio-psycho-social approach.

  • To assess and appropriately refer psychiatric patients in the primary care settings.

  • To assess and deal competently and safely with psychiatric emergencies.

Attendance

Key points include:

  • Attendance is required for lectures, tutorials, and clinical training (AM/PM).
  • No absenteeism is allowed without a valid excuse according to UM regulations, except for emergency medical reports from recognized hospitals.
  • Falsifying signatures is taken seriously.

Consequences for attendance:

  • Absence greater than 25% results in denial from exams.
  • A single day of absence accounts for almost 8% of attendance.
